Baked Cod Honey Soy Marinade (Printable Version)

Tender cod fillets glazed with honey-soy marinade, baked to flaky perfection in just 15 minutes.

# What You Need:

→ Fish

01 - 4 cod fillets (about 5 oz each), skinless and boneless

→ Marinade

02 - 3 tablespoons soy sauce (low sodium preferred)
03 - 2 tablespoons honey
04 - 1 tablespoon olive oil
05 - 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
06 - 2 cloves garlic, minced
07 - 1 teaspoon fresh ginger, grated
08 - 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

→ Garnish

09 - 1 tablespoon fresh parsley or cilantro, chopped
10 - 1 teaspoon sesame seeds
11 - Lemon wedges

# How to Make It:

01 - In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, honey, olive oil, lemon juice, garlic, ginger, and black pepper until well combined.
02 - Place the cod fillets in a shallow dish or zip-top bag. Pour the marinade over the fish, ensuring all fillets are well coated. Cover and refrigerate for at least 20 minutes, up to 1 hour for deeper flavor.
03 - Preheat the oven to 400°F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease a baking dish.
04 - Remove cod from the marinade and place fillets on the prepared baking sheet. Discard any excess marinade.
05 - Bake for 12–15 minutes, or until the fish is opaque and flakes easily with a fork.
06 - Remove from oven, garnish with fresh herbs, sesame seeds, and serve with lemon wedges if desired.

# Expert Tips:

01 -
  • The marinade comes together in under two minutes with pantry staples you probably already have
  • Cod is so forgiving that even if you overcook it by a minute or two, the sauce keeps everything tender and moist
02 -
  • Cod releases a lot of water as it bakes, so do not panic if there is extra liquid pooling on the baking sheet
  • The glaze can burn quickly in the last few minutes, so set a timer and check on it early if your oven runs hot
03 -
  • Pat the cod completely dry before adding the marinade so the sauce clings instead of sliding right off
  • Let the fish rest for five minutes after baking so the juices redistribute throughout each fillet
