01 - Sift the matcha powder into a small bowl to ensure a smooth consistency, free of any lumps.
02 - Add 2 tablespoons of hot water (approximately 175°F) to the sifted matcha. Whisk vigorously using a bamboo whisk (chasen) or a small regular whisk until the matcha is fully dissolved and a frothy paste forms.
03 - In a small saucepan, gently heat 1 cup of unsweetened almond milk over medium heat until it is steaming but not boiling. If desired, stir in 1 to 2 teaspoons of maple syrup or agave syrup and 1/4 teaspoon of pure vanilla extract at this stage.
04 - Using a milk frother or by vigorously whisking, froth the heated almond milk until a desired amount of foam is achieved.
05 - Pour the prepared matcha mixture into your serving mug. Carefully add the steamed almond milk, using a spoon to hold back the foam initially, then spoon the rich foam on top of the latte.
06 - Gently swirl the contents of the mug to combine. Taste and adjust sweetness to your preference if necessary. Serve this invigorating beverage immediately.
