02 - 2 tablespoons vegetable oil (if baking fresh fries)
03 - Salt to taste

→ Taco Beef

04 - 1 lb ground beef (80/20 recommended)
05 - 1 small onion, finely diced
06 - 2 cloves garlic, minced
07 - 1 packet (1 oz) taco seasoning
08 - 1/3 cup water

→ Cheese & Toppings

09 - 1.5 cups shredded cheddar cheese
10 - 1 cup shredded Monterey Jack cheese
11 - 1 large tomato, diced
12 - 1/2 cup sliced green onions
13 - 1/2 cup sour cream
14 - 1/4 cup fresh cilantro, chopped
15 - 1 jalapeño, thinly sliced
16 - 1/2 cup guacamole or diced avocado

# How to Make It:

01 - Preheat oven to 425°F. Arrange frozen fries on baking sheet or toss fresh-cut fries with vegetable oil and salt. Bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown and crispy.
02 - Heat large skillet over medium-high heat. Add ground beef and cook for approximately 5 minutes, breaking apart with spatula until browned. Drain excess fat if necessary.
03 - Add diced onion and minced garlic to the beef. Sauté for 2-3 minutes until onion becomes translucent and softened.
04 - Sprinkle taco seasoning evenly over beef mixture. Pour in water and stir thoroughly to combine. Simmer for 3-4 minutes until sauce thickens and coats meat.
05 - Transfer cooked fries to large oven-safe platter or baking sheet. Distribute half the shredded cheeses over fries. Layer seasoned taco beef evenly on top. Cover with remaining cheese.
06 - Return assembled platter to oven and bake for 5-8 minutes until cheese is completely melted and bubbly.
07 - Remove from oven. Top generously with diced tomato, green onions, cilantro, jalapeño slices, sour cream, and guacamole as desired.
08 - Plate loaded fries while hot. Serve as shared appetizer or main dish. Enjoy immediately while cheese remains melted.

# Expert Tips:

01 -
  • Its basically a taco and fries decided to have a beautiful, delicious baby together
  • The way the cheese gets all gooey and slightly browned in spots is absolutely worth the extra oven step
  • You can customize the toppings infinitely based on what your crowd actually eats
02 -
  • Work quickly once these come out of the oven because cheese keeps melting and the longer you wait, the more everything starts sliding into this delicious but messy heap
  • Using an oven-safe platter or baking sheet with sides actually matters because nobody wants cheese dripping all over their oven floor
03 -
  • Pat your fries reasonably dry before baking if theyre fresh-cut—excess moisture is the enemy of crispy
  • Let the beef rest in its seasoning juices for even 5 minutes off the heat before layering—flavor payoff is huge
